Squash And Beef Poutine

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Who doesn't like poutine? Its definitely one of my favourite meals to eat. However, it's not the healthiest. So if you're craving a poutine but you're on a diet, try this one out, it's very light, very satisfying and extremely tasty! You won't be disappointed!

The recipe is enough for one plate so if you want to share this plate you might want to make a little more meat and fries!

Hope you love it!

Ingredients

FOR THE MEAT

80g Beef strips

3tsp Soy sauce

1tsp honey

1tsp Lime juice

1tsp Sesame oil

½tsp Sriracha

3 Crack of pepper

1tsp Chili powder

5g Ginger

1 Garlic clove

5g Cilantro

¼cup Water

FOR THE FRIES

250g Butternut squash

1tbs olive oil

Salt/Pepper

POUTINE TOPPINGS

Cheese

Raw minced ginger (optional)

Green onions (optional)

Sesame seeds (optional)

Cilantro (optional)

Directions

*IF YOU HAVE AN AIR FRYER, JUST PUT THE SQUASH FRIES (MIXED WITH THE OIL AND SALT/PEPPER) IN IT FOR 15 MINUTES RIGHT BEFORE COOKING THE BEEF.

-Preheat your oven at 350F.

-Cut the squash into sticks.

-Toss them in a bowl with the olive oil and salt/pepper to taste.

-When the oven is ready put your squash fries in for about 15 minutes. (Make sure to check and flip them at about 7 minutes in)

-In a bowl put the following ingredients; beef strips, soy sauce, honey, lime juice, sesame oil, sriracha, pepper and chili powder.

-Peel and mince the ginger and add it in.

-Grate the garlic in the mix.

-Finally, chop the cilantro and also add it in.

-Heat up a pan with oil and once it’s hot, put ONLY the beef strips. (Leave the excess marinade in your bowl)

-In the bowl with the excess marinade, add the water and mix it properly so that it’s homogeneous.

-When the beef is cooked put it aside and deglaze the pan with the water + marinade mix.

-Let it reduce in the pan slowly until it reaches a thicker consistency.

Plating

-Now get your bowl.

-Put your fries at the bottom.

-Then put your beef strips on top of the fries.

-Then shred some cheese on top of it.

-And as a final touch, add your sauce!

-Now eat up!
